It’s springtime, and what better time to try out some new Cricut materials? Let’s make a cute birdhouse window cling today!
Get started by going to JenniferMaker.com, and read through the BirdHouse Window Clings post. This is going to tell you where to get the SVG file, and it will also tell you some tips and tricks. Once you have downloaded the birdhouse file from Jennifer’s website, you will want to extract the files from the zipped file. Once you have done that, go ahead and upload the SVG to your Cricut Design Space.
Next, you will want to make sure you have some Cricut window cling. This can be any color you want! I happened to have white on hand, so that’s what I used. They do have other colors available, but I only have white at the moment. But it works, and looks adorable!

For this project, I used the green standard grip mat. It kept the window cling material steady and secure while cutting. You will also need some scissors to cut your material to size. Other than that, all you need is your Cricut machine, and a window to put the finished product on! This is seriously an easy project, and you can have lots of fun with it.
This project is cut on a 12 inch by 12 inch piece of window cling. Jennifer Maker has designed the project to fit all on one mat, making it much easier, and it makes for less material use. So the first thing you need to is to cut your window cling material. Since it is already 12 inches wide, you will only have to measure out a 12 inch length of it. Go ahead and place it on your cutting mat, so that it’s ready to go.

Once you have everything prepared, go ahead and insert the image on your Design Space screen. From there, you just have to click “Make it.” Once you have clicked that, you will want to set your dial on your machine to “custom” so that you can choose window cling in the materials settings.
At this point, all you need to do now is start the cut!

You will find that it’s hard to see the cut lines on the white window cling…haha. But, for me, since I was standing in the light while peeling them off and placing them on my door, I was able to see them well enough to find the pieces I wanted each time.

These peel off and stick nicely! You don’t have to do the design exactly as Jennifer did in her tutorial. Make it your own, and lay it out like you want. Here’s my finished project:
